2 thumbs up for 1 semester to go on this college journey! 👍🏽 👍🏽
I feel like I could burst with excitement and thankfulness as I reflect on these last few years. They have undoubtedly been the most challenging, transforming, exciting, and difficult of my life thus far. I’ve learned and grown more than I can summarize here, and THAT itself is one of my greatest takeaways.
In this season of “growing up” I think many of us are often looking to the next thing… Graduation. A Career. Marriage. Family. Greater Influence… We’re full of dreams and we’re not quite sure how to carry them out, which can sometimes lead to frustration or discontent.
But wow. What a special season this is. A season where our character is being built in the quiet, in the late night studying, in the mundane tasks, in the waiting, in the persevering. This is an incredible time of life when we get to focus on learning, gathering wisdom, and practicing skills like discipline. Patience. Time management. Communication. Faithfulness.
If our attention is always on what’s next, what we want that we don’t yet have, we may miss out on the growth that’s currently taking place.
Or maybe we’ll get that “thing” or arrive to that “place.” But what if we don’t have the character to steward it- that job, the money, the relationship- well?
While I’m thrilled to graduate, I realize these last few years have been about far more than a piece of paper. I have a lifetime of learning and character development ahead of me, and I want to embrace that process. Because isn’t that really what life is? A process? A journey?
If you’re in a season of training, a period of waiting, a job or role that feels mundane… If you’re like me and you look to the future with more goals, dreams and ideas than you know what to do with, remember:
Who you ARE matters far more than the titles you carry or the places you go.
